If you've ever felt under-fuelled, dehydrated, or under-recovered following a workout session or on race day, you'll know how much appropriate  fuelling  makes a difference.  From timing your morning coffee to measuring calories relative to your training demands, we all fuel for performance in some shape or form. Our subject matter experts will dissect what it is to fuel for your performance and leave you with skills that you can easily implement into your training.   As a result, these Skillboosters  will enable you to understand the   purpose behind   intentional nutritional consumption of foods, drinks and supplements - a skill that you could   directly implement   into your practice or coaching spaces. 

SHELLY MELTZER

 MSc (Med) Nutrition & Dietetics (UCT)
Shelly started the sports nutrition practice at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA) in 1995, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, and have initiated many novel projects and programs, also co-founding the Trufood Station which offers bespoke healthy food, based at SSISA. In addition, she has authored and co-authored books, chapters, manuals, academic and lay papers, been part of research teams, developed workshops and courses including accredited on-line courses , mentored and taught dietitians, coaches and allied health professionals from under-graduate to post- graduate levels. Through her involvement with various professional boards and sporting bodies, and as a member of scientific and research teams, including the SA Rugby Scientific & Medical Advisory Committee, as well as having held academic positions both locally and internationally, she keeps the close connect to the evidence and practice of nutrition.
